Banking in Surrey
Surrey has the densest Punjabi-language banking services in Western Canada. 128th Street (Payal Business Centre) area has multiple banks with dedicated Punjabi teams. TD, Scotiabank, CIBC all have strong South Asian services.
Regardless of which bank you choose, we recommend also getting a KOHO card to start building Canadian credit immediately — no credit history required. This gives you a head start on the 12–18 month credit-building timeline you will need for a mortgage or car loan.
Housing costs in Surrey
Surrey is more affordable than Vancouver. Average 1-bedroom: ~$2,000–$2,400/mo. Newton and Whalley are traditionally more affordable areas.
