Healthcare in New Brunswick: What newcomers need to know

New Brunswick Medicare has a 3-month waiting period. Register at a Service NB location. NB Medicare covers doctor visits, hospital care, and most diagnostic tests. The NB Prescription Drug Plan covers eligible residents — registration is automatic for low-income households. Dental care is not covered provincially except for children under 10 in families receiving social assistance. The federal Canadian Dental Care Plan applies to uninsured NB adults.
